Government Employment Practices

Equal opportunity is a myth. In the private sector, there are certain tasks which the handicapped are not hired for, because they simply cannot do them. Those found to be dishonest or incompetent or mentally unbalanced cannot be retained, because the trust of the customers is essential to repeat business. Government, however, is a whole different ballgame. If a government employee is honest and competent, they can be fired for any reason. If an employee is incompetent or crooked or an out-and-out looney case, that is counted as a disability, and such an individual cannot be fired.
Such policy has resulted in some bizarre situations. I heard a story of one agency where women's sweaters were aquiring a most disturbing odor. It was soon discovered that one of the men in that department was urinating on women's sweaters at every opportunity. He could not be fired, because that was counted as a disability.
It should not be surprising that such policy would foster an attitude of disregard for the law. During a discussion on how more money could be made for one state environmental agency, a department head suggested making other states pay to dump their trash in this state. Another employee countered that this would violate federal interstate commerce laws. The head decided not to let that hamper progress, so the plan was implemented, with the result that this state was fined and made to pay back all the garbage fees thus acquired. Was this department head fired, "called to the carpet", chewed out, or otherwise punished? No, he got promoted for his inititative.
Gays have taken measures to make a place for themselves in beaurocracy, in an effort to counter persecution in the private sector. Although this persecution is usually unjustified, homosexuality is none-the-less an unhealthy lifestyle. It has been a breeding-ground for all manner of drug-abuse and emotional disorders. Many gays are honest and competent individuals, but these, by-and-large, are not the ones attracted to positions in government. Their more imbalanced and maladjusted brothers are. Gays have been so effective in taking over government jobs that they are now in the majority in many government agencies. They are now setting standards of performance and behavior, shaping policy, regulations and enforcement.
It should not be surprising that some agencies can now enforce, with criminal penalties, codes which have not been approved by legislative process, and often fly in the face of our Constitutional Rights. Mention the Constitution to most beaurocrats. The usual responses range from snickering to out-and-out rage. Every single one of them is required to take an oath to uphold the Constitution. To violate that oath is a felony violation (Deprivation of Civil Rights under color of law: 18 USC 242, 42 USC 1983). To collaborate with other agents to violate anyone's Constitutional Rights is also a felony violation (18 USC 241).
The sad fact is that government, in general, is most attractive to pathological control freaks. Those most adept at manipulating others, and passing for normal, tend to go into law and politics. Those most inclined towards violence tend to go into military or police forces where they can exact their harm, while pretending to be "the good guys", the "men in white hats", while covering for each other's abuses. Those least able to pass for normal, or incapable of surviving in any legitimate business, tend to become beaurocrats.
Harm they do, targeting people who don't fit their idea of how people should behave: people who don't fit their pecking order, mothers who hug their children in public, mothers who nurse their babies for two or three years (the norm in the third world is longer), anyone seen as eccentric, anyone caught killing in self-defense.

Yes, defending yourself is now prosecuted as a crime!

Like it or not, they are all a danger to the rest of us, to our lives, our livelyhoods, to everything that matters to us.
